his summer the Magic of The Shire has taken to the Sky. The long awaited Butterfly Cottage is nearing completion.
If you haven't been to The Shire recently you will want to take a walk through the Butterfly Cottage and also see the latest progress with the development. There is no other subdivision in Oregon and possibly the United States that is similar to The Shire. The English Country Village architectural style built around contemporary floor plans, appliances, and components is unique and far from the ordinary. And the Shire concept itself with cottages built around manicured common areas each having views over ponds paths and streams makes the wooded natural environment a part of every home.
The Shire is more than a different community. It is the ultimate destination: HOME.
The Shire is unique, fearlessly created to the vision of developer Ron Meyers and a team of designers to help implement his vision. The Shire's homeowners will share this unique vision to have their community and primary residence beyond the ordinary incorporated with the values and charms of a different age.
The Shire welcomes Sharon and Greg Steckler.
Greg and Sharon Steckler have purchased Thatcher Cottage with the Carriage House included in the sale as garage and guest house. If you have visited The Shire you will remember The Carriage House as the display of Shire Style in the 2006 Tour of Homes show. It has also served as the sales office for The Shire for the last year.
The Thatcher Cottage has been the residence of Ron Meyers, the developer of the Shire and has been extensively remodeled over a period of two years. Sharon and Greg Steckler, long time Central Oregonians, decided to put their money where their passion lies....and embrace The Shire experience. Sharon finally has the space for her quilting and sewing and Greg will bring his design and visualization business, Log Rhythms, Inc. into The Shire as well. Greg says, "The chance to live 'community'...to be a part of a 'vision' is exciting, challenging, ...and the chance to help mold and shape a larger neighborhood is just fantastic. Besides, we get to be first to stake our claim, and first to welcome our neighbors." Ron Meyers, has created a speical place in Bend. Sharon can't wait for the inspiration that living in The Shire will bring to all her projects. And Log Rhythms, Inc. is heavily engaged in design and visualization of The Shire, North Shire and Shire Woods. In fact the Stecklers' older daughter Lee Marie, who just happens to be president of Log Rhythms, has designed The Swordsman model and is seriously hoping to be the first homeowner in North Shire, too. "When Lee Marie, Sharon and I first were introduced to Ron Meyers and The Shire two years ago, phrases and sayings about how wonderful the community is just started rolling off our tongues as we walked down the community path. I'm sure everyone thought we were ...er..um...obsessed?" says Greg with a big grin. "We're glad to be here."
